The importance of landing pages on pay per click advertising campaigns

A well-optimized search campaign is only half of the puzzle. The other half is the landing page we are driving our visitors to. That’s where the conversion takes place and revenue is created.  That is why it’s very important that in every Google Adwords campaign, aside from having great adverts, it’s also very important to come up with great landing pages.  For example, if you have a good PPC account and it’s not converting, most likely the reason is that the landing page has the problem. Spending money on diverting traffic to non-converting landing pages is just a waste of money and your efforts. With PPC, your first step is testing keywords performance, then ad performance and the last will be creating great landing pages to receive quality traffic.

The 5 elements of a successful landing page are:

1. Your Unique Selling Proposition (USP) - The main headline and the supporting headline

2. The hero shot - Image or video showing context of use

3. The benefits of your offering - A bulleted list summary of benefits

4. Social proof - Testimonials or reviews

5. A single conversion goal

The most important thing about PPC campaigns is that they act as market research as well as marketing. You can find out what people are looking for in a niche you can afford and then try and sell to them. It helps you adjust your messaging and learn how to sell to ‘cold leads’.   You just need to come up with good keywords in your niche, aesthetically pleasing ads and a quality landing pages build around on your PPC campaign. With all this in place you should be rewarded with increased revenue.
